My super cool workshop

I love building things from scratch in my free time but this, sometimes, requires a lot of equipment and place. Since my room is my workshop, I don’t have a huge amount of space where I can store my tools. That’s why I constantly try to optimize as much as possible the storage in order to work in good conditions.

Terasse on slits

During the first covid lockdown, I spend all the time at my parents’ place. Since I had a lot of free time, it was perfect to start a big project. So, I decided to construct this 9m² platform on slits in the middle of the tries.
The main goal was to have a cool place in summer where we could have some fresh air and shade. I still go there every day in summer when its really hot outside.

Experimental Rokets

I had some old fireworks laying around and I was curious to see what was inside. I took the motor part of the firework and used it as the propellant for my rockets. The rockets were mainly made out of cardboard and 3D printed parts.

To be even more interesting, I added an accelerometer to the rocket and an SD card to record the accelerations and motions. After the flights I could create graphs to see how the rocket behaved. The only issue was that my accelerometer is rated at maximum 2G so at the launch, it wasn’t able to record.

Capsules distributor

My father and I drink quite a lot of Nespresso capsules so we usually order them in big quantity. We put all the boxes horizontally in the cupboard but it can be hard to reach the last capsules of the box. That’s why I decided to make a vertical capsules storage mounted on the wall.

I designed and then laser cut all the parts out of 3mm plywood sheets and glued everything together. By the way, if you are interested in having one of those, here are the DXF files for this project.

Coffee distributor

My mother really likes the Nescafé coffee and drinks it 2 or 3 times a day. She used to take the Nescafé with a spoon, put it in the cup and pour hot water in it. For Christmas, I decided to make her a coffee distributor that would pour the exact amount of coffee in her cup. Based on my really accurate calculations, with this distributor, my mom would save 52 minutes per year!!!

If you are a fan of Nescafé as my mom and you want to save time, feel free to download the .stp files to 3D print and laser cut the parts to make your own distributor.

Remote controled tank

Since a long time, I wanted to create a crawler robot. So in 2020 I made one, I first designed it on Fusion 360, and printed almost all the parts. This tank is radio controlled and even has a first-person view thanks to FPV googles.

As I wanted this vehicle to be useful, I added a water tank, a pump and a cannon for plants watering. This allowed me to transform a chore into fun.
